Cartier the Queen is my drag queen identity.
She came to life on February 22, 2020, at a fundraiser for the campy-horror drag queen flick Drop Dead Gorgeous, which was filmed in Providence, RI and features many Queens from Providence’s drag scene.
The fundraiser was held at Barnaby Castle on Broadway on the West Side of Providence. It was a murder-mystery cocktail party, telling the gruesome story of the family who originally occupied Barnaby Castle – which is an ostentatious Victorian-styled Manor House – by Queens and actors starring in the film.
The fundraiser was catered by local eateries and cocktails were included in the ticket price.
As it was just 3 days before my 46 birthday, I had my makeup done up at the MAC Store in Providence Place Mall – they didn’t really know how to do drag queen makeup, but the did a pretty good job anyway.
My brother drove up from Brooklyn to accompany me to the gala and with him, he brought me a selection of wigs to wear.
I’d picked out a stunning outfit on the backroom rack at Nordstroms in Providence Place Mall too, so I was all set.
Being all done up in drag made me feel more alive than I’d felt in a very long time.
If you’d like to know what I am up to more currently, this is me now:
